Fire

Azure fires blaze in night black.

Crimson flames burn bright in the morning light.

Neither of them linger.

The afternoon sun left to gaze upon scarred ground.

Blue fires blaze in night black.

Red flames burn bright in the morning light.

Neither of them linger.

Afternoon sun left to gaze upon scarred ground.

Two versions – one with the fancy colour words and one with the basic colour words. Gifs from Elden Ring. Still considering another run.

Pages, Maple Leaves and Crows

Another empty page.

Counting on fresh maple leaves for inspiration.

They are taking their time.

Maybe the crows have some ideas.

|||

Empty pages.

The inspiration of fresh maple leaves should fill them.

They are coming in late though.

I’ll try talking to the crows.

|||

Stack of empty pages.

I was going to gaze at the maple leaves

For inspiration.

Crows took them for their nest.

|||

The maple leaves are fresh.

Inspiration for all the poems

I would write

If the crows hadn’t made off with my paper.

|||

The maple leaves came in blazing red.

The poem they birthed spectacular.

Left alone for a single moment

Now it provides lining for a crow’s nest.

|||

I’m not completely sure that crows use maple leaves for their nests. But I like the image so I’m rolling with it.

Artwork found here.

I wrote this as a way to try out variations on a poem. None of these are redrafted – they are as they where written. Just rolled with it. I also wrote this while watching Mocchi Sol playing Guilty Gear (fresh off his win at Arc Revo).

As a bonus, Sol’s Strive theme (I dig it. I dig it alot.)

Empty Path

Ten thousand swords strewn around a field of grass.

Dull blades now fodder for rust.

A former dwelling

Slanting and slanted to ruin.

The light of a clear moon

settles on an empty path.

|||

Ten thousand swords strewn about a field grass.

Every year,

A little more moonlight

Lost to rust.

|||

Two poems inspired by the Guilty Gear character I play as, Baiken. The header image is of Baiken’s win screen in Guilty Gear Strive, and the video below is of her her instant kill in Guilty Gear Xrd Rev 2. Both of them helped with the poems. The second poem is a bonus that developed because I like the Ten thousand swords line so much.

Video uploaded by Luchta.
Me playing as Baiken.
My favourite Baiken player. A level to aspire to.
Baiken’s theme from Strive. One of my favourites.

Idle

An idle poet ponders the nature of Tengu’s.

Tengu’s think about piles of empty pages.

The Mogami river

Flows all the same.

|||

The entire reason these poems keep happening.

I’m probably going to start writing other poems soon – there’s only so many ways to use the Mogami River. I do appreciate it though – and one day I hope to see it.

Post for Open Link Night.

Spoiled

A terrible rain last night.

Maple tree in tatters, the roof breached.

Stack of paper and poems rotting and spoiled.

Still, there’s something worth saving.

|||

A howling rain fell the night before. Maple tree in tatters, the roof breached.

Stacks of half-finished poems spoiled and rotting.

A moth offers whatever help it can

in a candlelight search of things worth saving.

|||

How the poem started and how it ended up. It’s a fun process.

Ramen

Moon hangs on the edge of the eaves.

Two tailed cats cavort in and through alleyways.

Wheel monks slalom across the streets.

No one notices – tonight’s ramen that tasty.

||||

Other word choices following Wheel Monks – Careen and Barrel. Maybe those would be better, maybe not. Just thought it was worth noting.

Tengu, Ramen and Mogami River oh my

Under the great maple resides a fine ramen stand.

In the branches up high

Mischievous Tengu’s take turns,

Seeing who can land a leaf in an unattended bowl.

|||

Monks sat in rows

Once studying koans, now meditate studiously.

Outside, idling in the trees

The frustrated tengu with no one to trick.

|||

Monks hard at work.

No idlers for the tengu to tease.

Thoughts drift towards

Mogami river.

|||

Late Autumn

A Tengu tries to count tumbling maple leaves.

Keeps losing count, amidst dreams of

Mogami river.

I’ve been watching Nichijou.
