nothing left to do now
but to sit down beside the river
and watch the cobalt grey sky
break apart under the weight
of all the oni taking flight
on those great orange constructs
those wings of light

what’s this? a poem? an update? well blow me down.

This is gorgeous. I love it.

  2. Linda Kruschke · July 23, 2015

Very nice. And I like the rendition of Hallelujah you were listening to when you wrote it. Peace, Linda

  3. Mary · July 24, 2015

    What a peaceful scene.

  4. Glenn Buttkus · July 24, 2015

Since I believe Oni are Japanese demons, popular in their Art–perhaps this is not such a tranquil scene.

  5. thotpurge · July 24, 2015

Lovely… hope they fly away to never return.

  6. wolfsrosebud · July 24, 2015

what a nice close to the day

I have to admit that after playing the video game Onimusha with my daughter so long ago, and the shared excitement and agony of descending into the deep-relm – any poem with Oni brings up memories of a dad and his youngest mesmerized in the battle of good vs evil.

I enjoyed your words – it’s funny where they take us. The magic and mystery of poetry.

This poem was educational for me; you spoke of a few things I hadn’t heard of before. Nice write, great imagery, & thanks for the lesson 🙂

Very powerful visuals in your short piece – nicely done.

It’s resignation toward the moment. Beautifully crafted!

    There are some dark wings
    of clouds that sing
    waves of
    that only
    those feel
    who see
    those clouds..
    where imagination
    and memories are
    the only
    way out..
    and your
    of black hole clouds
as they do exist in places…

This conjured up visions of orange origami oni taking flight….hoping their taking flight away from here 😉 This Jeff Buckley version is my favorite!

Since oni are supposed to be demons, I can only imagine you have battled them and now they are taking flight – so it is a peaceful thing to sit by the river and watch them leave – find peace in the flowing of the river.
