bento boxes

bento boxes lie empty on the grass.
our hands slide across the blades.
wings of light arc, and arcing.
we sit, and stare, watching the sky burn down.

~~~
empty bento boxes rest on the grass.
over the blades our hands slide, and sliding.
wings of light arc, and arcing.
we sit, and stare, and watch the sky and clouds burn, and burn.
~~~

bento boxes emptied, idle on the grass.
wings of light arc, and arcing.
we stare, and sit, to see the sky and cloud incinerate
as our hands slide closer together.

~~~
empty bento boxes mark the emerald grass.
wings of light arc, and arcing.
we sit, and watch heaven burn in great orange
our hands sliding closer together.
~~~

empty bento boxes imprint upon emerald grass.
wings of light arc, and arcing.
we sit, to watch the sky consumed in great scarlet flames.
our hands slip closer.

~~~
emptied bento boxes idle on the grass.
wings of light arc, and arcing.
we sit, and watch the sky and clouds fade in scarlet fires.
our hands sliding close, and closer.
~~~

    Lovely to have you here today, we all know how busy life can get!
    If I understand correctly, you’ve written down several versions of the same poem? I like the final poem best, I think, although I’m not sure about the word ‘arcing’ – do you mean ‘arching’ or is it a word of your own invention?

    The small subtle changes in each verse makes it almost to a closure… I wonder what happened then,,

    I love the way you did this, it’s like watching a scene in a movie, again and again. and i love this line: “we sit, and stare, watching the sky burn down”

    Sunsets are truly heavenly and to capture the experience can be so difficult in words as the awe sunsets and love too..they can create..are captured in the eyes of lovers great and small..and yes the leaves and blades never sleep or shut eye from the awe and beauty of sunsets true..:)

    i can sing about them all night
    and all day
    too…:)
